Transfer and Articulation Program, Transfer Framework, Spring 2021:
QVCC
The following links are to templates to be used in assessing student achievement of competencies associated with designated courses. The courses are those identified to be the transfer core for QVCC's Liberal Arts and Science (Pathway) degree. It is the intention of the TAP framework that when students take courses from this core, they (the courses) will be guaranteed to transfer to receiving institutions in the ConnSCU System as part of the approved LAS degree. (This does not mean that other courses will not transfer--and many in fact will--but that this core is officially recognized in transfer.) The final 30 credit core will transfer as a block, as long as a student has completed a full "pathway degree."
In the fall 2013 semester, full-time faculty were asked to identify at least one course they are currently teaching from this core, and to carry out assessment in the course for its associated learning competencies. In subsequent semesters, all faculty who teach a "TAP" course have been asked to assess for the related competency in their course. Starting in the Fall 2016 semester all faculty teaching TAP related courses were asked to assess for their associated competencies, and to provide the results of these assessments by the end of the semester.continued this into the 2018-19 academic year toward a first comprehensive report to the FIRC (Faculty Implementation and Review Committee). In 2019-2020 this process was slowed by the sudden pivot in Mar. 2020 to all online classes, and related college adaptations to the COVID-19 pandemic. As the college and the CSCU System pulls out of this phase and returns to on-ground courses, the System is also working on "normalizing" learning assessment across the State, including a shared set of rubrics and general education core outcomes shared across all colleges in the System.
To assist in this local process in the mean time, the links below provide the current templates to use in this assessment. Each faculty member is to identify the assignment or assignments in their class in which the associated competency is addressed (in its entirety), provide a very brief abstract (description) of the assignment(s), and use the related rubric-grid to keep track of assessments for each student. These will then be input into the learning assessment information system and reports will be generated at the conclusion of the semester or shortly thereafter.
You do not have to complete forms for the two "embedded" competencies, nor for the Gen Ed 1 and 2 competencies, but you do need to be sure that these are adequately addressed in the assoicated courses that you teach.
